Never Far Away

I said “Yes” to You
and You sent me away.
go forth, You said, and learn to wander
from the Wanderer.

I said “my Lord” to You
and You sent me away.
there was a long, long pause
before You did.

I said “it’s Yours” to You
and You sent me away.
with a kiss that tasted of desperation,
of Yours, for no kiss of mine could ever taste like that.

You said “enjoy” to me
and that You’ll never be far away.
oh, I shall ever look for You as You dance across my stormy skies
light-footed as raindrops whip Your face and swirl around Your feet.

You said “come home” to me
and come home to You I shall.
My Love, Your kiss was never sweeter
than it feels on my lips today.
